Hearing Matters was formed in 2009 (a merger of existing companies founded in 1996) when two like-minded independent, ex-NHS audiologists, Peter Jones and Brian Unsworth joined forces. Having worked in audiology for a combined total of 50 years we have a wealth of knowledge and experience gained from working in both the NHS and private sector. Our services are used by more than 15 ENT Consultant Surgeons throughout the Northwest. Peter Jones FSHAA
Hearing Aid Audiologist and Registered Clinical Physiologist
Peter has worked within audiology since 1986, the early years spent within the Health Service and moving into private practice in 1993. He provides diagnostic audiological support services for many ENT Consultants at the Alexandra Hospital. His interests include hearing aid fittings and integrating additional technologies to assist those who have difficulties with television, telephones and background noise. Peter is also one of the few people in the country that fits the SpeechEasy anti stammering device.
Brian Unsworth FSHAA
Hearing Aid Audiologist and Registered Clinical Physiologist
Brian has worked in Audiology since 1984, initially training in the Health Service at Oldham Area Health Authority. He has been in private practice since qualification in 1989 and has worked closely, supporting many ENT specialist surgeons in their private practices since then. Brian has a keen interest in hearing protection for specialist applications particularly for musicians and music industry professionals. He has considerable experience in audiometry and special damages reports for medico-legal purposes and is vastly experienced in hearing aid prescriptions for difficult to fit hearing losses. Brian has a patient, professional approach and an affinity with children and adults alike.
